Enhancing agrobiodiversity through participatory research

Pilot studies of cereal-legume mixtures were carried out at 6 sites in 2020 and 17 sites in 2021 in North-eastern and Eastern Scotland, central Scotland and the Scottish Borders. The trials tested cereal—legume mixtures, predominantly pea-barley or oat-faba bean, although some trials tested other combinations. Two trials tested barley under sown with clover and one trial tested a six-species fodder mix. Sites were visited by Hutton staff during July and early August to collect monitoring data and crop and soil samples. Data at harvest was collected by trial owners. Pre-harvest data: collected and processed by Hutton scientists Final yield data: collected by trial owners and supplied to Hutton (additionally includes data for some trials conducted in 2018 and 2019)
