Soil profile depth, bulk density and carbon stock of Scotland

The spatial distribution of soil organic carbon is an important factor in land management decision making, climate change mitigation and landscape planning. Here three groups of datasets (peat depth, total soil profile depth and total carbon stocks in peat and in all soils) are presented. The datasets were made using neural network model and statistical analyses to integrate past survey data, recent monitoring work for peatland, spatial covariates from biophysical data such as topography and climate, and remote sensing data. Each of the datasets was produced at 100 metres resolution. The units of the data are kilogrammes per hectare.
